Water & Wine Weekly • Penn Yan, New York • August 24-30, 2026 • Issue 13

Another issue of Water and Wine Weekly has arrived! While the cool air is settling in this week, don’t get discouraged that summer is nearing the end. Instead get out and about; sip a glass of Rose at Keuka Springs, get your toes in Keuka Lake at the State Park, and taste the Heirloom Tomatoes at the Sweet Farm! Highly recommended for the week: Live Music, Pizza & Wine at Tabora Farm & Winery on Thursday evening, and then spend a weekend afternoon at the Pick’n Patch in Stanley, New York. Go ahead and read all about it…

Nothing Like Wine and a Pizza Pie

There are few things that say Finger Lakes summer quite like a glass of locally made wine, a farm to table fresh pizza, live music and good company. Put them all together at Tabora Farm & Winery, and you have the recipe for a perfect wine-country evening.

Located on Lakemont-Himrod Road near Dundee, Tabora has created a destination that feels like much more than a winery. It’s a farm, bakery, deli, tasting room and gathering place—and on Pizza Night, it becomes one of those places where you can settle in, relax and enjoy the best of the Finger Lakes.

Have a Little “End of Summer” Fun!

The Pick’n Patch is especially popular in the fall, when the farm transforms into a colorful autumn playground and pumpkins are abound. But you can visit now to celebrate summer’s end! Wander through the corn maze, take a tractor ride, sip a wine slushee, and enjoy the days activities at the farm.

Located just 20 minutes from Penn Yan, along Routes 5 & 20 in Stanley, is the Pick’n Patch - a classic Finger Lakes farm experience with a little something for everyone. Young and old can climb and slide the Hillside Slide, the young (and young at heart) can jump on the Giant Pillow Bouncer, and the whole family can hop aboard the wagon ride for a journey around the apple orchard.

Get out and enjoy a summer day at the Pick’n Patch!

Curating your experience in Penn Yan, New York

Claudia Milroy

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you stay awhile and come back often. I started the weekly newsletter and this website for tourists and locals alike. I once was a tourist (over a decade ago) and now I’m a local, living here, working here, raising a family here! And I sure do love it!

Naturally I first fell in love with the rolling hills and cool lake breezes. But as I returned again and again, for a different season and different reason, Penn Yan stuck with me. I recall first it was the hint of grape when you drive by a vineyard and then the caramelized, roasted air that wafted down Main Street from Birkett Mills. Visit after visit my husband and I hit all the tourists stops because of my curiosity. Full disclosure - my husband was raised in Penn Yan and he knew all the ins and outs of the area to woo me! Travel & history nerd here! So, through our years of dating and early years of marriage (p.s. we got married in the Finger Lakes!) we would visit family, friends, and our favorite spots. Then the day came when our son was just 6 months old and we decided it was time to move to Penn Yan! Now 10 years later I’m here to share my love of this place with you!

I hope you enjoy this, I hope you take away some cool and fun inspiration for your next adventure. If you're planning a trip, please don’t hesitate to reach out - I’d love to personalize an experience or a 7 day itinerary for you.
