Make it a Wine Slushie Day!

Having a wine craving but desiring something cool and refreshing? Make it a Wine Slushie day!

Summer in New York's Finger Lakes is synonymous with vineyard views, lake breezes, and award-winning wines. One seasonal favorite has become a must-try for visitors and a weekend favorite for our locals: the refreshing wine slushie.

This summer spend the day discovering the wineries around Keuka Lake or touring the expansive Seneca Lake Wine Trail with a frozen wine slushie! Wine slushies are a frozen wine-cocktail that blends wine with ice, sweet fruit and simple syrup to create a boozy, spoonable or sip-able summer treat. Truly a must try to cool off this summer!

Where to get them? Stop by Bully Hill Vineyards or Stever Hill Vineyards on the Keuka Lake Wine Trail or Glenora Wine Cellars on Seneca Lake for this frozen wine treat. Enjoy one (or two) on the outdoor patio while overlooking vineyards that stretch toward the lake.

When you can’t make it to the winery, make it at home with this fool proof recipe:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ice

  • 1½ cups chilled Finger Lakes Sweet Riesling

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup

  • Fresh fruit for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add ice, wine, frozen fruit, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth and frozen.

  3. Adjust consistency by adding more wine or ice as needed.

  4. Pour into chilled glasses.

  5. Garnish with fresh fruit and a straw

Whether you're exploring the charming wineries surrounding Keuka Lake or spending the weekend touring Seneca Lake, wine slushies are one of summer's most refreshing traditions. Take your time, enjoy the scenery, support local wineries, and discover why Finger Lakes wine country continues to be one of New York's premier travel destinations. Cheers to sunshine, vineyard views, and refreshing wine slushies!

Enjoy your weekend, be safe and have a designated driver.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you stay awhile and come back often. I started the weekly newsletter and this website for tourists and locals alike. I once was a tourist (over a decade ago) and now I’m a local, living here, working here, raising a family here! And I sure do love it!

Naturally I first fell in love with the rolling hills and cool lake breezes. But as I returned again and again, for a different season and different reason, Penn Yan stuck with me. I recall first it was the hint of grape when you drive by a vineyard and then the caramelized, roasted air that wafted down Main Street from Birkett Mills. Visit after visit my husband and I hit all the tourists stops because of my curiosity. Full disclosure - my husband was raised in Penn Yan and he knew all the ins and outs of the area to woo me! Travel & history nerd here! So, through our years of dating and early years of marriage (p.s. we got married in the Finger Lakes!) we would visit family, friends, and our favorite spots. Then the day came when our son was just 6 months old and we decided it was time to move to Penn Yan! Now 10 years later I’m here to share my love of this place with you!

I hope you enjoy this, I hope you take away some cool and fun inspiration for your next adventure. If you're planning a trip, please don’t hesitate to reach out - I’d love to personalize an experience or a 7 day itinerary for you.
