Beautiful Blooms & Lake Views

There’s something timeless about walking through rows of vibrant flowers on a warm Finger Lakes summer day. At LaBarr Farms, visitors are invited to slow down, soak in the beauty of the countryside, awe at the lake views, and create a custom bouquet with their U-Pick Flowers experience.

Located in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes region on Seneca Lake, LaBarr Farms has become a favorite destination for locals and visitors looking to experience the simple joys of farm life and blooms. Their flower rows burst into color throughout the growing season, offering everything from cheerful sunflowers and zinnias to cosmos, dahlias, and other seasonal blooms that make every bouquet unique.

Fresh, Local, Sustainable

LaBarr Farms U-Pick Flowers is a family owned 2 acre flower field located on their 76 acre farm. The farmland has been in the family for generations as a fully sustainable farm without use of any pesticides. The 2 acres include the rows of flowers, the walking paths between the rows, the Flower Barn, the Farm Stand, and surrounding green space to have a picnic and take in the views. The Farm Stand was established in 2020 and the 2 acre flower field was planted in 2022. The first U-Pick season kicked of in 2023 and has since grown to include lavender and additional rows of blooms. The love and pride in the flower field is evident in their story on their website but as you walk the rows and snip the flowers, you can feel the love in the place they built together as a family. Your U-Pick Adventure

Unlike buying flowers at a store, picking your own bouquet allows you to connect with nature and express your creativity. Stroll through the flower fields, choose your favorite colors and varieties, handpick each stem to create a one-of-a-kind arrangement to brighten your home or share with someone special.

When you arrive, head to the Flower Barn. You’ll find all the self-guided instructions you need and the current flower list for the U-Pick experience. The Flower Barn is stocked daily with picking pitchers to use during your U-Pick experience, snippers and pruners to use, and paper to-go cups to take home your beautiful bouquet in. Grab your supplies and head down the path to the rows of beautiful blooms for the fun!

The flower rows are elegantly marked with the type of bloom. Let your eye guide you through the rows and snip each bloom that catches your attention. As you wander the rows, buzzing bees and floating butterflies nestle on the blooms. Take a quick snap shot for your instagram, everyone will be asking where you are!

Choose a variety of flowers and colors, snip at the base of the flower or node so the stem is long, you’ll trim and arrange later. After the snip, place the flower immediately in your picking pitcher as the bloom will be thirsty. Please be respectful and not wasteful, snip only the flowers you will use for your bouquet.

When your picking pitcher is full, head back to the Flower Barn and settle in at an arrangement table. Water pitchers and clipping disposable bins are provided at each station. Glass vases are available to purchase or arrange your bouquet with the paper cup you can take home.

Lay your hand-picked blooms out on the table and go to town! Prune the stems to the perfect height, vary the color and size as you place them in your cup or vase. Play around with different arrangements, vary the textures and heights. Have fun and smell each flower. Soon you’ll have a gorgeous bouquet!

Flowers by the Bulk Available

For those looking for bulk DIY flower arrangements for celebrations, there are 3 gallon buckets available for purchase. This is ideal for wedding bouquets, bridal shower arrangements, and centerpieces for any celebration. The plastic bucket is included in the price, making it easy to cut and go to arrange at home.

Perfect for Photos

The flower field and lake views provide a spectacular setting for photography. Whether you’re capturing family portraits, engagement photos, or simply updating your Instagram feed, the colorful blooms and rolling Finger Lakes landscape create beautiful natural scenery in every direction.

Remember to be respectful of the flowers and follow the farm’s guidelines while taking photos so everyone can enjoy the experience. You can find all the information here for photography sessions: https://www.labarrfarms.com/photo-sessions-in-the-flowers

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you stay awhile and come back often. I started the weekly newsletter and this website for tourists and locals alike. I once was a tourist (over a decade ago) and now I’m a local, living here, working here, raising a family here! And I sure do love it!

Naturally I first fell in love with the rolling hills and cool lake breezes. But as I returned again and again, for a different season and different reason, Penn Yan stuck with me. I recall first it was the hint of grape when you drive by a vineyard and then the caramelized, roasted air that wafted down Main Street from Birkett Mills. Visit after visit my husband and I hit all the tourists stops because of my curiosity. Full disclosure - my husband was raised in Penn Yan and he knew all the ins and outs of the area to woo me! Travel & history nerd here! So, through our years of dating and early years of marriage (p.s. we got married in the Finger Lakes!) we would visit family, friends, and our favorite spots. Then the day came when our son was just 6 months old and we decided it was time to move to Penn Yan! Now 10 years later I’m here to share my love of this place with you!

I hope you enjoy this, I hope you take away some cool and fun inspiration for your next adventure. If you're planning a trip, please don’t hesitate to reach out - I’d love to personalize an experience or a 7 day itinerary for you.
